15 minute Pork & Sesame Noodles

Advertisements

How are you doing? Have you braved the grocery stores yet? I don’t have flour, do you? I want to do some ideas for some baking, but I cant do them. I hope you are doing well and keeping busy enough to not going stir crazy.

Here’s an easy recipe for lunch or dinner!

Serves 2
Ingredients

14 ounces of noodles (if you use udon or ramen it would be 2 packs)
2 tsp sesame oil
3-6 garlic cloves, roughly chopped (the more the merrier if you ask me)
4 scallions (or green onions), whites and green should be separate (whites for cooking, green for finishing)
2 inch piece of ginger, cut into think strips (or diced if you want a somewhat mellower ginger taste)
1 TBS of sesame seeds, more to top the dish
1/2 pound of ground pork
Veggies (whatever you have in hand) book choy, broccoli, etc. Make sure that they are cut small, especially if they are a long cooking
1/4 cup of soy sauce
1 tsp of spice (chili powder, sriracha, red pepper flakes, etc)
1 Tablespoon of oil (vegetable, peanut oil)

How to:

Remember your mise-en-place. You should have a pot of water boiling for your noodles. Once your noodles are cooked (it should be 11-12 minutes), set them aside and toss with some sesame oil (you could use toasted sesame oil).

How to:

  1. In a pot of boiling water, throw your noodles. Cook to the package instructions, take it aside and toss with sesame oil.
  2. In a large pot or wok, heat some oil. Add garlic, ginger, and the white part of the green onion. Cook for 30 seconds. Add Sesame Seeds and fry for another 30 seconds. Spread the mix out and add the pork in the middle. Spread the meat as much as you can.
  3. Add veggies, cook for a minute. I used red (purple?) cabbage. You want some crunch in this. another way you can use some thinly cut carrots as well. Add cooked noodles, soy sauce, and spice. Stir fry until well combined and the sauce is thickened slightly. Remove from the heat and serve topped with the green parts of the green onions and sesame seeds!
