I wanted some broccoli. Then I remembered the time that I cooked broccoli for the first time. I was grilling in my mom’s backyard, and I decided to put some broccoli in the cast iron skillet that we had. I reached the far depths of my memory to recreate that dish, here it is!
Ingredients: (2-3 servings)
- 2 heads of broccoli, cut into florets
- 2 heads of garlic
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
- Parmesan cheese
- Peanut oil (or any oil with a high smoke index)
Have you checked out my simple potatoes recipe?
I took the inspiration from my simple potatoes recipe and adapted it for broccoli. This is a very easy and fast side dish that you can do in less than 10 minutes!
How to:
This can go 2 ways; if you are cooking something in the oven, you can add the cast iron so that it can preheat, which will make it insanely hot and wait until the last 10 minutes of the protein to cook in the oven to cook. If not, heat your cast iron in medium high to high heat. Make sure you have your mise-en-place ready to go. Trust and believe, it will make your life SO much easier.
- Heat up your cast iron skillet
- Once your cast iron skillet is just starting to smoke, add a splash of peanut oil. Add the broccoli.
